Center for Glass Research
Saint-Gobain joined the CGR in June 1998 and is represented
by Saint Gobain Recherche.
CGR
is based in the USA at the University of Alfred (NY), with extensions
at the universities of Penn State (State College, PA) and Missouri
(Rolla, MO).
The University of Alfred concentrates on the properties of hot glass,
PennState on the study of glass surfaces, and the University of
Missouri on the interactions with refractory products.
The CGR's role is to support progress in the scientific and engineering
knowledge of glass through research, education and technological
exchanges. This forms part of the cooperation between the university,
administrative and industrial worlds.
Massachusetts Institute of Technology
Saint-Gobain is a member of the MIT
industrial liaison program which allows industry to meet and correspond
with MIT teaching and research staff and access their research themes.
Saint-Gobain research staff can thus monitor progress of the MIT
research programs and if necessary become involved in them.
