Nicholas Harris is an example of an international
career at Saint-Gobain. A British national, Mr. Harris joined
Saint-Gobain Recherche in 1981 as a research engineer.
He was initially engaged in the optimization of the mirror
chemical silvering process, the physics of glass surfaces,
and chemical tempering.
Four years later, in 1985, he was transferred to Saint-Gobain
Emballage in a more operational post requiring greater application
of his aptitude for management. He progressively became the
Surface Treatments Manager, then head of the Chemical Tempering
of Bottles Project.
In 1991, having by now acquired a wide range of experience,
Nicholas was quite naturally asked to continue his career
at the head office in Paris. He assumed a position which dealt
with the technical validation of investments and environmentally
related problems, a role more concerned with the technical
aspects of running Saint-Gobain Emballage. He is currently
responsible for the coordination of the entire R&D branch. Since the 1st january 2008, he
is appointed Sustainable Development Manager for the Packaging Sector.
