Job
description
Each year, Saint-Gobain Recherche recruits many research
and technical staff. Most of them are drawn from major scientific
universities or faculties and, in the case of technical staff, technical
colleges. They may be French or foreign and speak several European
languages. They work on two or three programs in parallel within
small teams whose members belong either to the R&D centers of the
Saint-Gobain Group, or the marketing services of the industrial
branches or to the production units. Increasingly, we are becoming
organized in "project" groups, the head of each group being from
Saint-Gobain Recherche or another unit from the Saint-Gobain Group.
Saint-Gobain Recherche also pursues many long term studies as part
of its exploratory research program. Our work covers innovative
products right up to the demonstration of their technical and commercial
feasibility, and this enables us to assist the startup of development
centers of our industrial branches and production units throughout
the world.
We are seeking employees wanting to work on projects from their
initial conception to their industrial and commercial application, who
are able to draw on the very wide technological potential available
within our group.
The physics and chemistry of solids are the specialties most represented
in our laboratories, but mechanical engineering, optics, fluid mechanics,
heat engineering, mineralogy, applied mathematics are also highly
appreciated. Certain scientists devote their whole career to research,
but most young researchers or technicians only remain a few years
at Saint-Gobain Recherche and then evolve towards other functions
in the Group such as development, production, marketing, and even
logistics or human relations. Thus, by constantly enriching their
professional experience, they may one day accede to posts with the
highest level of responsibility within a widely diversified and
internationalized industrial group.
